The name snail is a word for the majority of members from the 'Molluscan' class known as 'Gastropoda' or 'Gastropods' that have COILED Shells.

There are also two different groups for snails with lungs and those with gills (aqautic and land-living snails)
Snails with lungs are known as Pulmonata but snails with gills don't have a group name that I know of (sorry!)

PLUS! Did you know that most snails are aqautic?
