"In my more than three decades in government, I have never seen anything approaching the degree to which information flow from scientists to the public has been screened and controlled as it is now," James E. Hansen told a University of Iowa audience.

Hansen is director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York and has twice briefed a task force headed by Vice President Dick Cheney on global warming.

Hansen said the administration wants to hear only scientific results that "fit predetermined, inflexible positions." Evidence that would raise concerns about the dangers of climate change is often dismissed as not being of sufficient interest to the public.

Some of your answerers are talking about global warming. I am not sure if that is the only thing your question refers to or not. I have not heard about this administration calling scientist heretics, but I don't doubt for a minute that you have heard it. I have heard both sides of the global warming debate, and I think the debate is stupid. It does not matter whether it can be proven that man causes global warming or not, because pollution is a serious problem on this planet regardless. The air is still filthy, the water is still filthy, the top soil is still depleted, the rain forests are still being depleted, and the Global Elite Illuminati who are trying to take over control this planet, and create a New World Order which will enslave us all....ARE THE FILTHIEST OF ALL THESE FILTHY, FILTHY THINGS!!!!

This administration isn't calling all scientist heretics. You've posed your question as a comment. There are differing opinions on "Global Warming" in the country and in our scientific community. I don't believe it is all caused by humans, I do think we play a part in things, but I'm not ready to buy the "Al Gore Theory" either. Thanks

Perhaps you could provide the quote and a link to back up your assertion that someone in the White House called scientists "heretics".

Science doesn't usually get involved in the criminal justice system, except for individual scientists as expert witnesses.

And none are needed here to address the criminal issues.
Anyone who can read a statute or a case holding knows the criminal laws that have been broken.
