I went to the ER, they did bloodwork, ultrasounds and pelvic exam. Shot me up with Dilaudid so I don't remember the worst parts. They said I passed some tissue, did not hear heartbeat, but my cervix was closed, and I still had at least 1/2 of the rest in my uterus. The MD said the tissue was near the cervix and should come out this weekend. He gave me pain meds to control the obvious discomfort but said I would not need a DnC? I don't understand this. I am not even bleeding that heavy, what if I don't pass it? I'm scared. I do not have insurance and a follow up visit with an OB is $325. What should I do?

Thank you so much.

Mine took 3 to 4 days to come out but I went to the hospital and brought it with me and they said I passed it all but they still did a dnc because if it all does not come out it can cause an infection or cancer I would got to your county hospital or if you have proof you were pregnet you technically still are apply for medicaid they will give you emergency medicaid right away and you will be covered for 6 months then you can go to a specialist insist on the dnc it is necessary

Don't worry about it, I'm sure the ER doctor knew what he was doing. Bleeding after a miscarriage, like our periods is to clear the lining of the uterus or any other foreign matter. Depending on how many months pregnant you were, you have to remember that a fetus isn't very big at all in the first few months which is when miscarriages happen. Sorry about your loss and God Bless you.

It all usually comes away naturally and a d&c is not needed unless you notice a nasty discharge and smell.

I shouldn't worry about it, I never had a d&c after my miscarriage and I'm ok.
