I've been there! I remember being so depressed about how I used to look forward to holidays but after getting married I hated them because it always meant his family coming around. Over time, however, I got more and more used to them. I learned to tolerate them, be kind, and tried to look on the positive side of things. My cousin's in-laws are absolutely hateful to her -- almost abusive -- and thankfully that was something I never had to deal with. Just suck it up, deal with it, and realize that it could be worse. If your marriage is strong and you love your husband, dealing with the in-laws is just a small price to pay.

If your son is their grandson... or you expect a gift or they have any part in his life- they SHOULD be invited to the party.
In my family we always did the kids party- and then a seperate dinner/lunch party for family... maybe that would help? Just explain- the family party (if that is the case)
But you DO need to include them in your special events somehow... or yes- it is rude to ignore them and to exclude them from your life.

so what they are weird- society has a strange way of looking at others just because they do not fit their norm. These are the grandparents of your children- why would you take the chance of alienating them. Perhaps you should take a good look at yourself and take a step forward to better your relationship- it JUST may save your marriage in the future.

loopy isn't the be conscious. they're very insensitive to no longer care once you needed their help. you do no longer say how long you have been married or in case you have teenagers. yet while your in-rules are treating you like this precise now, they are going to in no way exchange. I say run and don't look decrease back.

What does your husband feel about your take on his relatives? It is sad we can't pick our relatives, I know what you mean about some family members being too close, sick . As long as the issue doesn't interfere with your relationship with your husband, sometimes you have to "chin up" around your in-laws.

The best thing that you can do is kill them with kindness. I am not tellling you to kiss their butts, only to be the bigger person.

You give no indication why you think they are "weird"...maybe it is YOU who are weird. I guess you never met your in laws before you CHOSE to marry this man? If you did and you still CHOSE to marry him then you have nothing to complain about.
