A friend inherated a coin collection with 1,000s of pennies that are very old, We are trying to find out how to sell for full value, not thru dealers. We would like to deal with a collector. Anyone know someone that may be interested?

Sounds like Kitty is a little, or a lot paranoid. Most coin dealers are honest folk. It sounds like you have an accumulation of cents, not a collection. A collection would not have so many and they would be in albums. First thing to do is go through them and pick out the ones that may have value. Pick up a Coins or Coinage magazine ( Walmart has them) and check the price section out. It is a guide only but at least will give you an idea of the coins value. If the guide says it is worth 05-25 then you know it is not a rare coin and a dealer will not pay much, or even want it. If it listed for a $1 or more in grade good, then you have something that can be sold. Finding a coin club in your area can help, for most member are willing to help others that have little coin knowledge. I don't know of any dealer, that would take the time to go through 1000's of cents anyway. Like everyone else, time is money. Do your homework, that is the key to selling coins.

I am always interested in any coin, anyone has for sale... but as for doing business here, it won't happen anytime soon.

If you were from my local area, we would have a meeting already set up but since I do not travel just to look at coins, this meeting will never happen.

Keep in mind, no one can be trusted.... NEVER let your coins out of sight and never let anyone view them alone. Getting 2 or 3 opinions on their value would be in your best interest unless you get an overwhelming feeling that the person you are dealing with is on the up and up. Your gut can give some pretty good signs at times so pay attention!!

Good Luck in your venture, you never know, you might find someone right from your area here.

May I suggest you go to the ANA web site at money.org and look for a coin club in your area. Perhaps a club member would be willing to look at what you have and give you an offer.
