I cant remember how much RAM my computer has could someone help me out and how to check how much I am using My HP laptop is running poorly so assuming i am running out of RAM Please help

ok got it but how do i know how much i have available. it says 512MB of RAM sorry I am little ignorant whenit comes to this stuff.

all you have to do is go to my computer right click on it and go to properties for some ideas on how to speed up your computer you can go to http://www.mypcfixes.com once your there go to slow pc's on the left side of the page

Since the RAM memory is "refreshed" and cleared every time you start the system, I doubt that this is the problem.
You probably need to clean out old files from the HD and/or "defragment" it.
Over time the files get "broken" into smaller bits and "scattered" around the HD. Defragmenting will pull them all back together and therefore speed things up again.

IF you have XP, you might also see the users manual on how to remove the old restore points as they eventually take up quite a bit of space and can slow a system due to lack of hard drive free space when dealing with large applications and files.

Personally, I don't like HP's method of pre-installing because they add a bunch of "extra" junk, and I think it leaves the system unnecessarily slow to start with, but that is just my opionion.
