How do you know who you are? Are you the same person as your friends think you are? Are you the same person as you were last year? Can you change who you are?

i think we all have a perception of how we appear to others, as well as a perception of our selves, many times they are very different.we don't see our selves the way others do mostly because they only get a limited view of us. i think in some ways i am not at all like what my friends think i am, but it isn't because i am trying to portray myself as someone i am not. it is that they haven't lived in my body they have not experienced the things i have. they do not see what i have come through or where i have been. we are ever changing, as we mature, we find that the things that were important to us at one time are trivial now and as we grow we are changed, experiences change us as well as people. i think i know myself as well as i can, but i am often surprised by what others think of me. a family member once told me that they admired me because i had inner strength and i was confident, i was shocked, because i saw myself as weak and insecure. i guess it is very hard to see through someones Else's eyes. i believe you can change who you are. it is hard to do because you have to look into why you are the way you are and what you need to do to make it different. good luck!!

The only person who really knows you is you. Nobody knows the real you because the real you is in a constant state of change. I am not the same person I was yesterday..my hair is different, I have read some news stories that have me thinking about my opinions on certain subjects...there are to many vairiables in a person to ever be "still" enough for people to really know you. So, basically friends like the essence of you the things that don't really change about you. thats why when it does change those friends seem to drift. its all a circle of life..excuse the phrase.

I know who I am by what I experience, feel, and think.
I'm not the same person as my friends think I am, because I wear a "mask" or sorts when around people. I tend to act happy and cheerful, when inside I'm usually depressed or feeling negative feelings.
I'm not the same person who I was last year, because last year I didn't know I had ADD and depression.
I can't change who I am because I don't know how to function well anymore, and from what I've seen, people don't change unless they want to. I don't know what I want anymore.

I know exactly who I am and so does my husband. Otherwise, no one knows who either one of us are. It's a matter of trust and intimacy over time.

Yes I know who I am.

My friends do not know who I am.
