I'm playing Gertrude in Seussical. I haven't seen the script yet. Is it all singing? Or are there actually scenes with just speaking? Is there anywhere where I can check out the script?

NOOO there are not a lot of speaking parts at all haha. I'm in this show right now actually, and the majority of the show is completely sung throught. There some lines, but most of them are spoken in rhythm and rhyme (like a Dr Suess book) and are to lead into a song. But hey, congratulations on the part!

The script I read was for the "Theatre for Young Audiences" addition, but if I remember correctly, Gertrude did have speaking lines in that version. All they do is cut and rarely add to make up for what they've cut, so I'm sure she has lines in the full version as well. Seussical is mostly sung-through, but there are speaking parts I believe.

Wait! I believe that this site has the entire script on it. (I'll give you the link, but I haven't read through the entire site, so it may not.) Anyways, try:

Hey, I've seen this. The truth is, the only speaking parts are the cat in the hat, Horton, the Mayor, his wife and Jojo. Gertrude, however, does have some very good singing parts, you are very lucky! There isn't alot of speaking altogether, and I'm sure you can look up the full script on the web. Break a leg kiddo!
