He walked to Alabama on Jan 1,1934. His brother Felix was arrested when bones were found in the fireplace where he lived in Bedford Co., TN. They were about to hang Felix when Uncle Billy stopped at a restaurant in Lewisburg, TN and was recognized by the sheriff. The sheriff took him to the Sheriff's office and Felix was released.
