I like John McCain as well. He is a decent man.

I like McCain though, he has been pandering to the right. He can't never be president because he is not a partisan hacker and the conservatives don't think he is a real conservative. His voting record proves otherwise, and I think McCain is a man without a party.

You must not know very much about him.
He has little to say, and is generally thought of as having a poor grasp of matters such as the war in Iraq (or, at least, that's what some of his friends say).
As for his personality, it is pretty clear he's only interested in ingratiating himself to whomever is necessary for a vote (including George W. Bush - and it's no secret how much McCain dislikes the man).

I'm sure he is a "great" guy...most of the time. And I respect his sacrifices for this country, but I'm seriously concerned about his ability to lead in times of crisis.
You spoke of his track record....Well, he also has a track record of flipping into blind rages when he doesn't get his way. It's a syndrome commonly found in POWs and not a characteristic that we should have in a President.
I wish I thought otherwise, because I WANTED to vote for him the last time he ran. But I think his time as a POW left him scarred emotionally as well as physically.

I supported McCain in 2000, but have lost respect for him since he started pandering to the far right and became an apologist for Bush.

I supported McCain with all my heart in 2000. He will not receive my support in 2008. I do not appreciate his support for the Iraq war and his pandering to extreme right-wingers.

John McCain does whatever he deems to be politically popular at the moment. I won't vote for someone who has no political ideology. It leads to unpredictability.

I've lost all respect for the guy.
He used to stand for something and would stand by his convictions regardless if he was the only one. Now, I always see him kissing religious right behind.

Not a chance. I'd even vote for Hillary against him, and I'm a Republican.
