Do you know the other dog's owner? You could talk to him or her about spliting the cost. Your vet might have some suggestions because he probably has seen these situations many times. If talking to the dog's owner gets you no where you might go to small claims court - I think it's fair to split the cost as long as both dogs were at fault - If the other dog started it and was the aggressive fighter the other dogs owner could be liable for the entire cost of the surgery and medicines. Good Luck

If you can track down the owner of the dog that attacked yours they are legally responsible for all your vet bills if their dog attacked yours without be provoked in any way, shape or form. However if your dog was on their property or started the fight you are responsible for their vet bills. You can ask them to pay for all or half of the bill, but again was your dog a completely innocent victim during this attack? Depending on the cost of the vet bills you might ask yourself is all the time and expense of going to court and trying to collect the money really worth the hassle. You might find that your time is more valuable than going through the court system.

Let it go. It's a dog thing-and since you barely grasp the english language,I doubt you'd get it.

If you sue,you are severely petty.
