Currently the problems im experiencing are severe period pain along with heavy bleeding and clots. Nauseus and lack of sleep. Being 34 with no children i'm finding the problem getting worse and have already spoken with the doc about a full hysterectomy and oomphorectomy as my quality of life is nil just now. The period problems seem worse since ive had the colposcopy and leep done just over a month ago. I don't see my consultant til middle of April, i've already been to hospital with the severity of the pain and sent home with no treatment, what can i do at the present time to try and get some painfree normality back into my life without resorting to taking dihydrocodeine to ease the pain which sometimes not even they work.

Hi, I'm from Canada. I've had " the beast " for roughly 18 yrs. I had a hysterectomy @ 28 - I'm now 40. I'm on disability...have been for 6 yrs.
I've had 9 or 10 surgeries (lost count) I've been on EVERY kind of pain pill & others. I was on a male hormone...nearly had a breakdown...if Dr. wants you to try any kind of male hormone..be warned, ask questions & YOU make the decision.

Have you tried meditating? It takes practice, but is works for me...sometimes...like everything else with this rotten disease. You are NOT crazy, or a big baby, or a wimp. If we had gaping, oozing sores, maybe people would have an easier time believing that we are, in fact, feeling pain. Also, just because doing laundry today (or whatever) and feel O.K. doesn't mean when we do laundry tomorrow we will be. We may be in terrible, terrible pain. Good luck...if you need to vent or whine about the unfairness of the disease, you can find me in Yahoo Canada.

Been there so understand the pain and the effect on quality of life.

Ask the doctor about trying Danozol or a similar medication that has been out for more than thirty years and helps with endometreosis but stopping the hormones, thus "killing" the tissue. The side effects (breast reduction, voice deepens, hair growth increases) are not so nice but the medication does work.

Try that or a similar medication before resorting to surgery. The hysterectomy helps but if you have the opharectomy you lose all female hormones and suddenly go through menopause and all associates issues.

I would recommend you try another gynocology who specializes in infertility and endometreosis (which causes infertility) before you resort to surgery.

In the meantime, use a hot pad on the stomach for the pain. It really works. I used to keep on in my desk drawer as well as one at home.

BTW did you know Marilyn Monroe had Endo? Endo has other side effects besides what you described including depression (probably due to the pain), etc.

Good luck

Well, I had the same thing years ago. The thing is you are too young to have your ovaries taken out unless they have tissue in them too. I just had my uterus removed and I have been fine and then I did not go through early menopause or have to take hormones (which now they don't want to give hormones any longer).

If they can even save just one ovary you will be much better off.

I would get some second opinions before I let them take everything out.

My sister had this just over a year ago.
I know many don't like pain relief but you should take it to help ease the pain.
My sister didn't get much support from the docs either. Until she changed her gp.

Since colonoscopy has Nothing to do with gyno problems . . . and has No effect on periods . . .
Maybe your doctors are searching for the problem .
Maybe your problem is body chemistry related ?
Low water intake ? Ingesting something not healthy ?
Stress ?
Try seeing some different doctors until they resolve the cause of your issues . . .
Especially since your last test had nothing to do with female issues . . .

Before you accept the option of surgery, talk to an acupuncturist who will also be familiar with traditional chinese medicine. It sounds like you may have a spleen channel imbalance. Acupuncture can take care of the pain and along with herbs, take care of the imbalance that can cause the bleeding problems.
