Hi i would like to know if anyone knows if it safe to take the Dianette (contraceptive pill) with antibiotics i have bee on the pill for three months during that time i was on antibiotics for 6 months for acne recently i changed to another antibiotic and all the time i am feeling sick and have heartburn would anyone know if this is the side effects of these tablets

2 or 3 issues.

Firstly were you advised that Dianette has double the VTE (clot) risk of most other pills. Approximately 50/100,000 women / year.

Secondly taking antibiotics with the pill reduces the contraceptive cover.

Finally you did not name the antibiotic but tetracylines ( which end with the letters -cyline) cause heartburn on their own.

The heartburn is a side effect of the antibiotic. Please try to drink the antibiotics after a meal or with a full stomach. Drink lots of water. If the heartburn still persist go back to your doctor for a change of antibiotics.

as far as i knew all contraceptive pills are negated by antibiotics. check with your pharmacist or doctor!
