I loved the move "Sin City," so I was looking forward to another film adaptation of a Frank Miller graphic novel. While watching "300," I noticed that many of the Persians were made to be of African descent or some ambigous ethnicity. Plus, the most evil characters were black. I know it is based on the graphic novel, almost a frame by frame capture of what is in the book. Basically, I now strongly wonder if Frank Miller has some rascist ideas in his head.

I did enjoy some of the battle scenes, along with the visual imagery, of the film. However, the rascist tone bothered me.

Ummm... the battle is between the Persians and the Spartan Greeks...two different races. They are supposed to be different. I didn't really see the whole black thing you speak of. And I doubt Frank Miller is a racist. The movie was clearly unreal and shouldn't be taken seriously on any level. It's just entertainment. The "hollywoodification" of their differences were clearly untrue, but they did make for an interesting movie. I think it stirs up more interest in the two groups (the persians and the greeks) rather than does damage. After seeing this movie, I had to learn more, and now I know about the real battle. As I tell my kids again and again... movies aren't real, no matter how real they seem. For the most part, even historical movies aren't real once Hollywood gets a hold of it. I just think that the characters were good characters, and they (the actors) probably think they were hired for what they offered to the role and not just type cast as the evil-men-who-must-be-black-roles that you imply. You should be asking yourself...were they not good in their roles? And not be so concerned by their skin color? The Mummy movies also had people who didn't fit historically, but it was all for entertainment and it didn't take itself seriously. You shouldn't either.

I delight in the superhero video clips, yet i might choose to be certain greater of a sort of genres. i think of that the people who make the superhero video clips have realised that it is the final time to be freeing the superhero video clips; because of the fact even nevertheless there are various popping out, many anybody continues to be going to be certain all of them and the action pictures are making a great number of money. So the rationalization that they are popping out so near to a minimum of one yet another, must be that the makers have confidence after a on an identical time as people will end desiring to observe them and pass directly to a diverse sort.

We were seeing the movie from the Spartans point of view. To them, the Persians were invaders to their lands, and they saw them as monsters and evil. If the movie had been told from the Persians point of view, the Spartans would have been portrayed as monsters and evil. It all depends on whose side of the story we hear. So no, there is no racism in the movie.

Oh come on! The 'villains' had to be somebody. The Persians were from the Middle East / North Africa. Should they have been blondes with blue eyes?
