Is there an age limit. I know smoking is 18 years old but what if you just want a lighter or a zippo just to have? Is there an age limit?

the way the law is written, anything connected to tobacco products--which would include cigarette lighters, in the eyes of retailers, anyway, to protect themselves from the fines imposed by the state--has a lower age limit of 18.

In the state of Pennsylvania, lighters are not a legally-controlled item. State statutes restrict the sale of tobacco to people older than 18, but say nothing about lighters.

That said, many stores have their own policies. For example, Wal-Mart and many convenience stores will not sell lighter fluid to minors. And you may find many clerks who are unwilling to sell a lighter to someone under the age of 18.

Just because there isn't a law forbidding it, doesn't mean it's easy for a child to buy a lighter.

I don't know about PA law, but here in WA, my 16 year old son went to buy me a lighter and couldn't. It was just at a dollar store when the electric was out and I was waiting in the car! So, I guess it all depends on the employee. I don't think they'll sell them to under 18. Ever notice that lighters are usually by the cash register?
