Well, here are some reasons that I think people lie.
First, they find that many people in reality would far rather be lied to then told the truth. Many people like to be lied to for it then allows them to be or play the victim.
Many people find there is little punishment or cost associated with much they do that is wrong, whether is be lying, cheating, or anything else.
Many have no care or regard for what is really wrong or right. They only care about that they want and what will get them what they want.

Life is the ultimate gamble, hon. You lay your heart on the line and spin the wheel. Some win and some lose. That's the nature of life.
That said, there's also value to experience and intuition; being able to evaluate people based on time with them and how they react to significant issues.
Oh yeah, there's a lot of BS out there, and you have to develop your own technique for deciding who's who.

I have the same thing you have, after a lot of dissapointments with so called friends, I have a hard time trusting people anymore.

I hear you! People in our society are getting worse and worse by the minute. You just have to arm yourself and have the ones you feel may be potentials, checked out! Protect yourself in every way possible.

Ive come to the conclsion that people in general just suck,it makes it easier to deal with getting lied to and shat on

well i try to be as honest as i can, an yes a few time i ran a round the truth on answers, but it was to keep from bring more hurt to them,
