Elvis because he is the king of rock and roll. He is still very famous, not just because of his music, it is because of women, his movies, his journeys, his daughter, the stories of his death, his early life, and the culture of his time.

James Brown. He invented two musical genres funk and rap, wrote all his own songs, and was the best dancer EVER. Every r and b musician who came after him, owes their career to James Brown.
Elvis was OK... in terms of rock and roll I think guys like Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly were more influential from a musical point of view. Elvis was more influential in rock and roll style.
