Make that 51 people. I know we build good cars, but it is all perceived quality. It is what people think.

They don't mention that Honda welded 2 floor pans together and sent that car to be tested for crash worthiness. What about all the recalls that the foreign car companies are having also. The American cars have improved greatly, but it is still going to take some time to win the confidence back. Hope it is sooner than later. Although, it is too late for me, there are a bunch of hard working guys left, and I hope my brothers keep their jobs. America needs the tax dollars.

What's the difference between foreign and domestic anyway? Every Honda Accord sold in the western hemisphere is built in the U.S., all Nissans and Toyotas sold in the U.s are also built here. Most 'domestic' trucks are built in Canada or Mexico. As for quality, the U.S. has reached the level of Japan and Germany but our designs are still dull and uninspiring. The dark, dark days of domestics built in the seventies still lingers and has left such a bad taste in the mouths of the consumers that it could take twenty more years to fully erase. As for auto workers being laid off -- well, that's the free market for you. Unions and socialists can't seem to understand that business doesn't exist soley to provide jobs for people. They are entitled to make a profit. The unions manuvered the domestic automakers almost right out of business in the early seventies and now are paying the price.
Are 'foreign' cars really better? Just take a stroll through any BMW service dept and have a glance at all the 'ultimate driving machines' that line the parking lots with unexplainable electronic demons, failing transmissions, etc. BMW is quickly becoming what Jaguar was in the sixties -- the most undependable car on the planet. Even the lowest Ford Focus built is perfectly capable of driving across the entire U.S and back without fear of a major break-down. I personally own both 'foreign' and domestic vehicles and love them all.

I have owned far more foreign cars than domestic. While it is a shame that so many workers are unemployed, the decision to by a vehicle is a personal one and I have found foreign cars to be more reliable and cost less in the long run to maintain.

nicely, eastern autos are the final in the worldwide. eu are ultimate for it rather is type. American autos are ultimate for those that watch their funds. Haha, i like my BMW & Mercedes... yet i can not overlook my Nissan Altima. The steerage for the Altima is 10x greater effectual than the german autos. i assume it in basic terms relies upon... :) yet i've got on no account been prepared on Ford!
