No doubt Scot Shields is the best setup man, who is about to turn over the spot to Zumaya (if he doesn't become the closer). But middle relief is that area between the 5th and 8th innings that you need to cover for a starter who is struggling. And there are a few players that are OK but I wouldn't really proclaim any as a huge standout since some of the best are actually starters who can't get a spot. If Adam Wainwright hadn't become a starter this year he would have been my pick.

Has to be Scot Shields follwed by Mike Timlin. Joel Zumaya needs to put together at least another season to be considered, but he is really good too.

last season is was definately joel zumaya. we'll see about this year.
the game's best situational lefty reliever is the O's Jamie Walker. low low low ear and ob%. he's amazing.
