I was up all night watching the whole first series of 24 in 24 hours........... I know it was a stupid idea but at the time it sounded like a great idea.

you'll need two excuses one why you never turned up & one why you didn't let them know. But I reckon you've blown it.

You may just be out of luck on this one. Even though telling them you overslept might not look good for you, lying to them is not a great idea either. If a situation ever arose where they found out you had lied, you would not only appear unreliable, but also untrustworthy. The bottom line is, you should have called as soon as you woke up and realized you missed the interview. However, your best bet now is to call Monday and apologize, and pray they give you a second chance. If not, just chalk this up to experience and move on to the next opportunity. Just make sure next time you wake up on time!

You had a really bad night, couldnt sleep because you were extremely nervous thinking about the job, which you want so much. You finally dropped off about 5 in the morning and consequently slept through the alarm. You feel mortified and you are so very sorry and could they please give you another chance.

Be as truthful as possible and do a bit of grovelling. Can't fail to gain some sympathy. Good luck!

Oh dear how unfortunate.

You could tell them the truth but I don't think oversleeping will go down too well as they might think you will be unreliable for the job if you cannot get up on time.
Did you not ring them yesterday?
Normally I'd say be honest but...this time i would find some good excuse. Like a family member was not well or your car broke down.

Don't use the family emergency route - that just sounds trite. How important is this job to you? If you really want it, you'll have to make up something over-the-top believable that involves hospitals and the like. Then again, you can always try "overslept" and see what comes of it. Good luck!

By the way how did you oversleep?

Just say that there was a family emergencey - say someone died and phoning up to re-arrange the job interview was the last thing on your mind hence why you never rang sooner!!

I would not say you overslept. If they know that you overslept for the interview than it just appears that getting the job is not important to you and thus they will be reluctant to hire you. They will also think that lateness is habitual to you - no employer want someone that is constantly late.

Maybe you overslept because you weren't that excited about the job in the first place. You're a no-show if you didn't call them immediately and say you're stuck in traffic or something like that. Sorry to say that you probably can't redeem yourself at this point, but it shouldn't matter much to you if you weren't that excited about it in the first place.

I was thinking... deny that you had the interview that day. Insist that you were told it was the following week.. another day.. etc. If you can hold a good poker face and say with confidence that you were told a different date/time I think they would give you a second chance.

THERE IS NO EXCUSE for oversleeping and missing your job interview. Keep hitting your bong and dreaming big while not really putting the work in to achieve it.

If you're asked by interviewer why you missed then be honest because later on your honesty could pay off. You might not that particular job maybe a different job later on.
