Not including box sets and Euro albums and stuff. Just the regular albums. I count 10, is this right?

Master of Puppets. Their sound had tightened up a bit from Kill em' all and ride the lightning, But it still had and underground, not too commercial or overproduced sound like later albums. In my opinion, MOP was Metallica at their best. That album is an absolute metal masterpiece. Second place I'd have to pick ...And Justice for All, with Ride the Lightning as #3

"Kill Em All" is in my opinion, the best Metallica album. "Kill Em All" doesn't get much attention, but it was Metallica first album. I think that it was the most brutal and the thrashiest of all of their albums. The sound on this album is raw and stripped down compared to their later and more mainstream albums. On "Kill Em All," they were young and played the kind of music that they loved to play. This album was revolutionary and in-your-face compared to the 80's glam metal bands. The guitar work at such a young age was incredible. Though I have to say, this album did not display Lars' best work compared to the later albums. He used some double bass and did basic beats. Other than that, the songs consistantly sound great, making it one awesome album.

I say 10 actually!!

Kill 'em All
Master of Puppets
Ride the Lightening
...And justice for all
MetallicA (Black Album)
Load
Reload
Garage Inc.
S & M (old songs, but remade)
St. Anger
I don't know if you want to count Garage Days Revisited? If so then 11 albums.

actual Albums with their own songs.. 8. S&M would have made 10, but they were live. Live Sh!t would have made 13, but they were live. The singles would be 14, but those are just a single collection. garage inc. would make 16, but those aren't their own songs.. so their actual albums are as follows:

Kill 'Em All
Ride the Lightning
Master of Puppets
...And Justice for All
Metallica (The Black Album)
Load
Reload
St. Anger

that's 8.
