Homicide (killing) is merely the taking of the life of another. It is the broad category that includes good and bad killing. Indeed, it includes murder, manslaughter, self-defensive homicide, war casualties, justifiable homicide and homicide done when a person was in an insane state. The label "homicide" or "killing" is, in a strict sense, value neutral. Some are good (self defense) and some are bad (murder).
On the other hand, murder is defined by law as the illegal and intentional and, usually premeditated, killing of someone. It is a specific kind of homicidefor which the law exacts a stern penalty.

A killer is someone who has killed -- anything, human or animal.

Homicide is the killing of one human by another. However, not all homicide is murder.

Murder is homicide committed with the intent to kill, or with the intent to cause serious bodily harm, or with the intent to commit some other felony and reckless disregard for the likelihood that committing that crime will result in a death.

Killing is an act of taking the life of any living organism including human being and the animals whether justified or unjustified. But murder is unjustified and illegal killing of a human being.

For example, we kill animals for our food and the bacteria to get rid of the diseases; it is not murder. But if we kill a person illegally, it is a murder. Another example: if I kill illegally, then I would be tried for the murder and I would be killed by the law which would not be a murder for killing me.
