Celebrities are pretty much fair game. If they want to be famous, they have to be prepared for the good and the bad of unwanted attention. Plus the fact that he makes movies to further his own point of view, whether it be religion or something else. He opens himself up to criticism for that. I like him as an actor. Just don't freakin' drive drunk. Anyone who does that is an i-d-i-o-t.

The public has given much support to Mel Gibson in his career as an actor and film maker. When much is given to you, much is also expected in return. Having made a very controversial, and well accepted movie, Passion of the Christ, people are bound to judge him every move he makes. That is the price of fame and success. And he has a responsibility to be a good example to the public eye.

The liberal media have it in for him because he is a Christian . Hollywood in the main are left wing atheists who love to represent Christians as mad ,bad or crazy Mel Gibson making The Passion of the Christ and being openly Catholic drives them crazy.

I think some in the entertainment industry hate him because he proved that movie stars are human too, and make mistakes just like the rest of us. They want us to think they're somehow better.

I thought it was gross, but also quite funny when he gave a dead rat as a present to one of his co-stars during a film shoot - although I cannot recall whether it was Julia Roberts or Helen Hunt.
