I am handing in the paperwork to be a volunteer this week. But, I want to do something more than that after a couple months such as a paid job in the hospital but I will only be 17 or 18. What can I do?

Unit Secretary or nursing assistant. If you are out of high school, a nursing assistant course takes only about 3 weeks. A unit secretary course takes about 3 months. Both are in need all over the place. You should have no problem finding a job. Talk to the Human Resource department at the hospital where you will be volunteering.

Become a CNA, it takes about 6 weeks of full time work with clinicals after, then get a job at a hospital and start working on pre reqs and get good grades (cant stress that enough) also continue on with volunteering while in school, nursing programs LOVE volunteer work and work experience (like CNA) this will give you the best chance possible at getting in to a school, nursing program are brutal to get into, good luck
