How can I tell if gold is real or fake???

gold does not tarnish or rust and it is heavier than most metal (it is a transition metal) and F.Y.I : Most ppl don't know that a karat is only 1/24 pure gold

Like others have said, false gold is the one that "makes your hand gree, i think", however, that's not it. Gold is a pure element. Unlike most solid elements, Gold does not rust. Taking it to simple variations, if you ever see your mother, your girlfriend, or just some random lady with supposed gold jewelry, check for it's rust. If it's rusty and looks like it's in a bad shape, it is most probably not real Gold.

By the way, the abbreviation for the element Gold is 'Au', just in case you would like to consult a Periodic table of Elements, or just browse it for more information on the web.

Use pressed facial powder (make-up). Place some on your cheek or something and then run the gold accross is...if it's real it will leave a black streak.

if u stick it in a glaass of vinegar then in a glass of coke and u take the rign out and its stil good with not black edges or ansythign that should b real gold.. thats what i hear

Bite it,and see if it has any marks.If there is,it means it is fake gold,if not,it is real gold.

If your skin turns a greenish color where you put the jewelry it is fake... that is all I know
