Oh dear.... viruses!!! First thing one must ask is WHY don't you have up-to-date anti-virus software? You can get an excellent FREE Anti-Virus program called AVG FREE and its Free! (that's why its called AVG FREE). You get it from www.Grisoft.com or you can just Google for it. I reccomend it as the best FREE program around. Stay away from products like NORTON which you have to buy and PAY for updates and which slows your computer. AVG auto updates daily and you NEVER have to pay for it.

Now do this because its important to clean your PC before you do anything else. Then you should be able to read your floppies.

Go to the Windows Live One Care site at: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm?s_cid=sah
then select FULL SCAN and it will download some files to your computer and clean out all the viruses, trojans, spyware, other malaware, correct problems in the registry, remove all the junk that's floating around, defrag your hard drive nad leave you with a PC that runs great. This is FREE! Don't select anything else like the TRIAL offer. Once that is done (can take several hours!!!!!!) install AVG Free Anti-Virus and AVG FREE Anti-Spyware. Update them and make sure your firewall is on (using XP?) and you should not get any more viruses.
Come back with details of your pics that are on the floppy - what file types are they? .jpg, .bmp, pcx, .... they should import OK if you copy them to a new folder first and then check them all for viruses too. AVG will scan your floppies when you put them in to make sure they don't have viruses.

Come back if you still need help when you have done all this.

The OS that was used to create the floppies of pictures is irrelevant as only the file extensions are important.

Re-boot your computer in Safe Mode with Networking. To do that follow the steps below....

Reboot>as soon as the computer starts to load, repeatedly press F8 until the next screen comes up. Now use your arrow keys and chose Safe Mode with Networking.

By doing this the computer will not allow anything to start that is not needed by windows to run.

Update and run your Anti-Virus program. If you do not have one click the link below and you can do a free online scan that is capable of removing any virus it finds.
