Yes they are. When we breathe, we take in oxygen, and convert it to carbon dioxide. In turn, plants take in carbon dioxide and convert it to oxygen. It goes full circle and we work off of each other. Also, since all sources of energy ultimately comes from the sun, all plants need it to grow. When we eat plants and vegetables, it converts to energy, so our bodies work.

Plants take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen as part of photosynthesis. Since most land-based animals (including humans) require oxygen to breathe...and plantlife is the largest producer of oxygen...we would have a hard time existing without plants and trees on Earth.

they use our carbon dioxide that we breath out to make oxygen which we breath in
they also provide energy through sugars
an animal eats plants and gets energy from them and even if you arent a vegetarian and only eat meat the energy that you get from the meat came from the plant in the first place
so yes plants are essential to life

Yes. I think so. Plants produce oxygen. Without them (and algae) the world would become hot, muggy, and unbearable.
