Unless you absolutely love your job, ask for a bigger raise or start looking for another job. Let's do the math. Inflation is around 4%. This means the price of goods and services have gone up about 4% a yr. This means your cost of living has gone up. If you got a 4% raise each yr, then you break even. Costs went 4% but your income also went up by 4%. If you don't get a raise equal to inflation, then you are losing money each yr. Prices go up, but you take home the same amount of money. Hence, you can't buy as much. After 4 yrs, you are making 12% less than your original salary. I doubt the 25 cent raise made up for the difference. Yes, part of the reason your boss is rich is because he pays you very little. Heck, we're all in it to make money to some degree. It's a free world. Find a better paying job. If you love your job, stay. If not, leave. You can't get back lost time! Good luck buddy. Don't let people screw you over.

Usually they don't give you a good raise because they believe that you are happy with the pay you are getting. If you are valuable to the company at all they will not wish to lose you.
If they think you are happy, they will continue to pay you less than you deserve.
The nature of business is to pay the least amount possible for a given task. That is their job believe it or not. It is in conflict to your interests.
If you can show them that they will lose more money by losing you than by giving you a good raise, they will give you the raise. It costs money to train someone new. You have experience and can do the job well. It will take 6 months to a year to get somone else up to speed.
Next time you do something especially praise worthy just ask if they would consider a raise. Keep asking. Be nice, but let them know that you would like to earn more.
Don't threaten them, but seriously look around for another position. If you get an offer you can use that to leverage a raise.
Once I got another job offer, which I really didn't want but would have taken it if I had to. I took that to my boss and told him that I had a hard decision to make. The boss, who liked my work, gave me an instant raise to stay.

If he gave everybody a bigger raise, he wouldn't be able to afford that new Ferrari he just bought or the upkeep on his new 85-foot-yacht.
I just got a 50 cent an hour pay raise after 4 years. My boss isn't a millionaire -- just cheap.

Why does it matter what your boss is worth? If he were poor would you take a pay cut? You need to work for a rate that you feel you are worth, or find another job (if you can) that will pay you what you think you are worth.
Maybe you have been over paid for the las four years?

Sounds like your boss is an all american dick! I've known plenty of people in your situation. Basiclly you just have to figure out if your job is worthy enough for you to stay there, and if you're making enough w/ only getting a 25c raise every 4 years. Sorry honey but that's just ridiculous. I think it's important for people to enjoy what they do or else what's the point in doing it?

Now you know WHY your boss is a millionaire. Find a new job. With the increase in the cost of living over four years, you are falling further behind every day.
