I want to get as extremely 80s as possible. I have a great dress with huge shoulder pads, but my boyfriend claims that women did not wear leg warmers with long skirts, and that I am trying to mix styles. I feel like I have seen pictures of such a thing. Any ideas? Links to pictures online? Thanks!

We wore leg warmers in the mid 80's, usually over jeans or with shorter skirts. The skirts are actually kind of popular again now, like the little scooter skirts. We teased our bangs up high and also the sides of hair, we'd use hair spray and blow dry the sides of our hair so it kind of stuck out. With long dresses like the one you are describing they usually wore hose and pumps or flats. Oh, and don't forget the streaks of blush on your cheeks, not blended in of course! And we loved bright colors in the 80's, and layered socks.

No, they wore leg warmers over jeans, or with short skirts, not tight short skirts, kind of flared out short skirts. They wore lots of bright colors, and don't forget to make your hair big.

if i were you i'd just shorten the dress, make it like right over your knees, and wear a big colorful belt around ur waist. Also i would wear those button earings that they have at the nordstorms bp department, or get some plastic colorful earings, and those big colorful bracelets. For your hair, i would blow dry it in a side part, so it'll be like big and poofy, or if you have short hair, maybe try one of those stretchy headband things. Wear sneakers or flats with the legwarmers, sneakers are more authentic, but if its a fancy party u probably wouldnt wat to wear them haha. have fun! check out the nordstorms bp section for belts, headbands, and earings. hope i helped!

Miniskirt with legwarmers and sneakers or thights and legwarmers. Look a Madonna picture or the girl from the Breakdance movie (I think that was the name of that movie...or maybe it was Flashdance...I don't have good memory plus I saw it in Spanish). Also, you can watch Sarah Jessica Parker in the movie Footloose

Think early Madonna for 80's! leg warmers were more late 70's than actual 80's gear. I was there!

I like girls in jeans. It creates them look more city like and it generally does not look like they are trying too hard but if you are looking to get this folks attention, this may not be what you would like

I do enjoy putting on long skirts once in a while. They may be actually more comfortable than Skinny jeans and also not as hot to wear.
