Depending how they use it! It can be safe for anybody, but it's probably most popular with teens and young adults. I'm on it and have never had any sort of problems and it seems like it's safe to me. What you have to make sure is that you make your profile prvate so ONLY friends can see it. Then make sure you only put your first name, NOT last-you can even use a nickname where it asks for your name(that's what I do). You don't HAVE to put where you live when it asks for your city, just leave it blank. DO NOT put sexual pictures of you on myspace, it attracts the wrong kind of peope.,especially men.! Then I think the biggest deal would probably that every once in a while I get some random people asking me to be my friend, but you if you don't know them, don't accept them! Myspace is just a place to show who you are and keep in touch with friends. It's supposed to be fun! Just watch what you're doing and you should be fine.

It can be safe as long as you follow some common sense guidelines. Most importantly, you don't want to put any personal information on your page, such as your last name, address or phone number. Any of your friends who will visit your page should already know these things about you.
Also, when if you start talking to new people to add new friends, be sure to be smart about the information you share also. Once again, don't give out personal information, and it is usually not a good idea to meet up with someone you have met online, because you can't be sure if they are who they say they are. If you do want to meet with someone new, you should be very careful about it. Meet them in a busy public place, and come with a group of friends.
As an extra precaution, MySpace accounts can be set to "friends only" so that only people who you have added as friends can view your profile. This will prevent complete strangers from seeing your page. Based on the age you put into your profile, MySpace will automatically make your profile friends only, I believe it is age 15.

The answer is NO!..........there are too many sex predators online that disguse as normal people then prey on your child until they get what they want.BEWARE.it can be a very dangerous site.A middle school girl i know, went on the site a couple of times and she posted her pictures. Some old man recognized her from the same neighborhood and pretended to know who shes was.He told her they went to the same school and that she didn't know who he was but he always liked her. They talked online for a while and he told her that they should meet in a park near the school...The little girl's curiosity got the best of her and she agreed to go. She went to this park and the guy walked next to her and picked her up and slammed her on the floor, beat her and raped her.She never told anyone she was meeting with a boy,so no one knew where she was.It was very sad, she was only 14.But they got the guy and he is in jail now.She no longer goes to the same school and her mom decided they should move somewhere else and start over.So don't let your teenager unsupervised on myspace it can be dangerous..

No site is safe for anybody. Myspace is a really big deal right now and it all depends upon you and how you take caution. I think if your under 16 you should not join.

some would disagree, but i think it depends on the teenager. I have two teenagers. Both have used myspace. One of them uses it for friends, talking, etc. This one would never give out personal info or take a sleeze bucket up on meeting somewhere. The other, however, would fall for anything, give out phone number, and potentially get herself into bad situation. My suggestion would be that you get log in info on childs account so you can monitor what is going on. I think they have something where parents can even view discussions though instant messenger and stuff. I realize this feels very intrusive to kids but intrusive is better than raped, kidnapped, or dead.

yes, but it also depends on how old the teenager is. Because if they're at the age of 15 and below they can still have one but they will have they're profile on private so they won't have to worry about tryin to message the person unless they really know them. As far as them wanting to add friend just be careful on who they choose. Above all it's safe, fun, and the best way to keep up with they're current or past friends. Only thing you would have to pay attention for is spam profiles, phished profiles, and people they don't know.

ok the really depends on the child I mean does the child know what could happen if he or she put something that could give their life away then ok let them have a myspace but moniter it and if the child is not very mature than no you should teach then what could all happen and then maybe it is safe

hmmmm.......I know 11 year old girl on myspace, but that doesn't make it less dangerous for children. A man once knew a girl's EXACT address with the informating she gave. I think you should have a myspace if you would like, but not to much info.

Absolutely NOT. In the past 13 days, Perverted Justice has identified 853 registered sex offenders on My Space. There is no telling how many more are there.

Do you not ever look at the news? MySpace, YouTube, Friendster, all the other so-called teen hangouts are filled with sexual predators and perverts. Is it safe? No.
