The Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital, where Columbia students train and intern, is a justly famous institution. That said, I am sure that New York University has a very respectable medical school.

GPA(higher GPAs guarantee better scholarship, grants and fellowship opportunities)
Location(in state schools are cheaper versus going out of state)
Cost(tuition is cheaper in state than out of state)
Reptuation(high graduate turn out and frequency in job placement)
National ranking(higher tiered schools are better)

Look at those factors as your decision making tool for medical school. If you're not out of college yet get a job working as a medical technician to get clinical experience and to be employed while in school.
