i just got the turtle yesterday...but we failed to get it a basking spot. its just swing around there and it has nothing it can climb on too exept the filter system. will the turtle doe for swiming exhustion.

oh yeah its not really my turtle...just my lil bros and he was stupid enough not to get a water heater. we're probubly going to get it tommorow or late today. will the turtle survive w/o a baking place and a water heater? it does have a UV lamp thing tho. we put it over the water filter thing cuz the filter is kinda like a rock but i guess the rock is too high for the turtle to climb on. we dun care for the aqurium to look good...jus everyting dat the turtle is oing to need to survive. so far all we have is a galss tank, a filter system and water and some food and a uv lamp. nething else?

No it wont from exhaustion but you need to get it a basking spot and heat/UV lamp. I have a slider and she spends about 6 hurs every morning basking. Its good for their shell too and prevents a lot of stuff from growing on it. Go to a pet store and get a dock and lamp. The turtle will be much more happy. You really should have researched it before hand because the turtle should be around for a long time and you should want to keep it happy and healthy.

Turtles need to breathe air, and rest sometimes. Even putting something like a big rock or clean clay pot in the water will be OK for now.
I am always sorry for the turtles when they are not given the tools they want to be happy and healthy.

I have a red eared slider and at first, i didn't know very much. You don't need to buy anything. Just go into you back yard or a rocky place and get a rock, clean it very well and your done. A turtle like this wont die of exhaustion but could die of loss of heat. A turtle needs to what it looks like tan. It help it digest its food properly.

Go to the pet store and ask for everything you need. Why wouldn't you get this stuff before or during the purchase of the animal? You already know some of the things it's needs so go get them.
