i wear black eyeliner, dress in nothing but black w/ an exception of my tight pants which r blue, and i listen 2 AFI and Death Cab for Cutie.....oh and i LOVE skulls!!! i also 1/2 the short i guess "emo" hair cut 4 gurlz like i straiten it and it looks all chopped up or w/e. but i DO NOT cut myself...every1 thinks i do @ skool though.

tell people you are you and to stop trying to put a label on you. tell them the clothes you like to wear doesnt automatically determine your personality or you actions.tell them you cant know what a peson is like by looking at them, so dont judge you if they dont know you. and dont change for anyone. as long as ou have your group pf friends who undrstand you, who cares what neone else thinks.just tell them to stop boring you, because it is boring.the next time someone asks you if you cut yourself, make a joke of it - say "of course, and i also worship the devil and fantasize about m,y own death - whats ur point?!"

I know what you're dealing with, I get labeled emo all the time. I've done everything that I can to convince people that I am NOT emo, but there's really nothing else I can do. If people call you emo, don't freak out and get mad at them, that just fuels their labeling because that's what they want, to see you mad. And DON'T change the way you look and dress to make them stop, if you wanna dress like that, you have every right to. I think being labeled and bugged about it can help make you into a stronger person by not giving in to what everyone else sees as 'socially acceptable.'
So I don't think there's any way that you can make them stop labeling you emo, but the only thing you can do is to keep being yourself.

its your choice how you dress, your music and your make up but if you really want to change i suggest you tone it down with the eyeliner (that does not mean stop using it) and try putting your hair in a pony tail once in a whil that will help if you don't like pony tails i suggest you go to a salon and bring a pic that you know people won't think your "emo"!!!
thats all i think you don't have to change the way you dress but if you get 1 or 2 bright tops you will never be called "emo"!!!

well,i wear black eyeliner,dress in black sometimes..but not all the time..skulls are ok but i dont got aroudn wearing then and o have emo bangs but dont all the time put them that way..im not a emo girl ..not a girlie girl too...wear other colors a few times a week like purple or yellow,red,,if u like pink wear that..try something different..hope this helps!

since when does emo = self-mutiliation? i am obviously 10+ years older than you, and emo was around when i was in school, it is nothing new, and it never meant cutting. that is very unintelligent of them.
just be yourself! the way you dress and what you listen to IS emo. so what? dont label yourself, and dont let anyone else label you either.
be careful not to fall into self-fulfilling prophecies.....i.e. everyone thinks you are emo, so you continue to just choose emo-esque things.
be you and dont apologize for it.

get rid of the eye liner and start wearing real colors DO NOT STRAIGHTEN YOUR HAIR it looks awfaul on most boys girls are the only ones allowed to use straighters in my opion. cut it so it looks good
