If so, do you feel that you forgot things quickly?
This is a serious question.

I can't really answer the question because I studied Japanese and French at University and my Japanese is still intact. French is floating around somewhere in the nether regions of my brain.
The linguistics courses I took however.... I can't remember a thing about them. If you ask me it just means that most things we learn at Uni have little relevance in the real world. That's probably why unless you study a very career focused subject you may find it hard to get a job after Uni. If the things you study there had relevance to the job market and real world, we wouldnt forget them. Your brain tends to discard what it classes as academic poop once the test is over. My brain does anyway!
Anyway, you seem like a pretty darn intelligent lady mermaid, so I can't see you forgetting the things you learnt that easy! (Flattery works wonders)

The whole course provided an in-depth understanding of the subject topics and concepts as well as skills. That gave me the background to understand information that I had to work with later on; the skills remained with me too.

Doing a degree also provided me with concepts and skills, many of which were transferrable to other areas of life (including academically). Doing a degree is not just about memory, it's about having the background to assimilate and manipulate information effectively.

The other important issue is that I never stop enjoying learning and I am never bored.

Yes I did for three years and then I opted out.
I think everyone forgets things quickly, you only recall on a need to know basis and so that's why I can recall the formula for simultaneous equations because I learned it parrot fashion, but I couldn't tell you what it's for.....

Yes. I'm haunted by memories of struggles, starvation and deprivation. It was a fine art degree. What's to forget? Everything? Graduated 1994; I remember a lot, but forgot a lot of art history.

I did go to college and I would say I retained most of my core studies for many years - I have forgotten somethings over the years - but most of the things I learned have stayed with me.

Good Luck!!!

Actually it depends on how well you learn it the first time. I've found that if I periodically revisit stuff, it stays in my head much longer. I graduated with a B.A almost 2 years ago, so I've still got it.

a) Yes, b) no. This is not multiple choice.
But then I have a memory like an elephant, and my brain is like an un-emptied dustbin. It might take me a while, but I know it's in there somewhere. Just give me a few moments and I'll find it.

I agree with the person who says it depends on how well you learned it the first time and how hard you studied. It can make a big difference.

I did, I will never forget the lifestyle, but the BA in pure mathematics isn't too handy for teaching maths up to sixth form. But I needed it to qualify.
