Yes
Battle of Thermopylae of 480 BC, an alliance of Greek city-states fought the invading Persian Empire at the pass of Thermopylae in central Greece. Vastly outnumbered, the Greeks held back the Persians for three days in one of history's most famous last stands.

It's based VERY loosely on actual events, like any story about wars from that long ago they have been turned into a kind of Myth. I remember reading the story about the "true" events in history, but all the stories have been reworked and reworded to make the 300 Spartans seem almost godlike in their abilities. The movie will be GREAT I'm sure of it, but it will be like "Troy". based on a REAL occurance, with a lot of tall tales added for that extra edge.

there was a war between spartans and persians. and there is a well-known legend that spartans were only 300 hundered soldiers and fought for 3 days. but the movie is not true. they show the spartans as heroes and persians are babars. but it was the opposite of this. when persia was an empire greeks were still living as cites. and this movie depends on a real war, and a legend in that war but it is very overblowned all the events.

yes it is a real battle. I suggest you do a yahoo or google search and learn about what really happened. I recently saw a history channel show about it and learned that in real life Xerzes never came anywhere near the front line. I also learned that this battle was an important catalyst in unifying greece into one nation-for the purpose of defeating Persia-consequentially leading to the proliferation of greek culture and the spread of western culture.

Sort of. There was a war about this time between the Greeks and the Prussians. However, many of the details have been enhanced or simply changed to help make a more entertaining movie.

this war has been happened in the history, but you cant rely on the historical documents of a war , because the only observers of war are the 2 countries fighting each other,so they will surly change the real story and also through thousands of years it has been change even more so you cant decide whether if it was really what you saw on the screen or not.

Yes, it is loosely based on the war b/t Spartans and Persians in ancient Greece, however, many of the facts r historically inaccurate.
