My son is 4mth's and he is not able to sit on his own, I was just wondering when is he suppose to be able to sit up on his own. I was thinking 6mth's... I was planning on getting him a walker but he is not able to hold himself up yet. This is why I do not think that it's a good idea for me to purchase one yet..

Please let me know, thank you everyone for your answers...

4 months is a little early, but you should start to see him sitting up on his own at about 6 months or so. Don't rush it though, he will do things in his own time.

By four months baby should be rolling over well, and more than able to hold his head up. Sitting while propped up MIGHT be okay, some babies are already sitting at this stage.

Its usually around 6 months that they are able to actually start from a laying down position and sit themselves up.

Walkers actually dont do anything for babies development, and are quite dangerous as most end up knocking things over, pulling things onto themselves, or rolling down stairs. A play disk is much safer and entertaining to tots. Its not too eatly to buy one. If baby can hold his head up well and control his arms you can sit him in a play disk and roll a towel up to hold him upright in the seat.

Give it time, my daughter is 6 months and is just starting to sit by her self. She falls over after a few minutes, but she is getting there

All babies do things at different ages. There is a little chair that sits on the floor that is designed to help your baby learn to sit or you can use a Boppie.
