When you are under stress, most people regress emotionally. Using alcohol more frequently is not uncommon, but it also is NOT good. Really make an effort to take care of yourself because it is a difficult time.....you probably already feel out of control emotionally so alcohol will just add to that. Its a cliche, but it's true (most cliches are!): eat right, exercise, get a good night's sleep, focus on helping others who are going through even greater difficulty (eg, volunteer!)

Don't know when you are talking? Before divorce ,during or after? Well as for me, I wasn't a big drinker while I was married, but He was. But after the divorce I found myself drinking more, to dull the pains of a new life, even though I was the one who got the divorce. My safety net was gone, and I had to do it all alone and it was scarry. But it only lasted about 6 months. I decided I could deal with the pains, and issuses with life without drinking, which sometimes made things worse. Hope this helps.

Just because you are divorced does not mean you have to drink. You go on living life. Do what you normally do....or if that was something bad in life and is what caused the divorce maybe try a new life style.

I did drink a little but not that much. I was just happy to get the sorry excuse out of my life for good. I should have been a drunk when we were married but I had my children to think about. He was enough to make anyone drink.

I didn't really get divorced, the marriage was annulled. Still, it was over. He went to jail, and I drank yes. I am not a drinker but it helped for a short time. I don't drink much now, it is just a reminder of the worst guy in the world, so full of sh1t. Don't do it, it just adds to the hurt.
Just to mention, :P I am over that pig now. I am married again and VERY happy. :)

I never really drank until it happened! I went on like that for about six months ( basically until I healed emotionally). I then woke up one day and decided it was heading for disaster and stopped- I was drinking every dam day! It was getting a little alcoholically. So.. be careful my friend. I now don't touch it, and pot either (sorry, I'm honest.) Oh man - was I devastated when it first went down! You'll get past it. Ask God to help. It worked for me!
