My daughter's friend is in 8th grade and barely 13. She has been seeing her boyfriend for 1 1/2 years. Her mom completely supports this relationship, and takes him everywhere they go with them! This mom has always been super strict and protective in the past which leads me to believe that she is either niave or really dumb. This girl has told my daughter and all her other friends that she has sex with this guy. Should I ask the mom if she is aware of this?!

I would try to approach the mother and let her know that her daughter has talked her friends about her sexual activity. You would be doing your duty as a fellow mom! Your daughter may become mad at you for ratting her friend out, but, she will understand later.

Yes, yes, yes. Although the 13 year old may be bragging about something that never happened. She has violated some trust and her mother should be aware of it since she is the person who trusted her daughter! Also, she's ripe to become a 13-yr old mother whcih I'm sure no one really wants to happen. Yes, yes, yes, absolutely report to the mother what you have heard, not that you think it is true but she could find that out herself.

I would not. If the girl's mother is aware and supportive of their relationship she may already know. Plus, it could affect the relationship between you and your own child if it causes tension. Perhaps the better thing to do would be to talk to the young woman in question yourself and suggest ways of protecting herself. Only if this conversation brings upoo any worries or issues would I suggest you contact her mother. I work with young people in the UK and have never been in a situation where telling the young person's parents would have made the situation better.

That might be tricky. If you have found out through your daughter, who asked you to keep it confidential, then I suggest you do. Your daughter needs to know she can trust you to talk to, or it could harm your relationship; not to mention that of your daughter and her friends.
On the other hand, if this girl's mom is a close friend its hard not to get involved.
However, its not your place to get involved. All you can do is to try and find out from your daughter if this girls being safe and pass on advice, and ask this girl to tell her mom herself.

Oh, you bet your cotton socks I would...and I would want to know too! How great would that be for a 13 yr old to be pregnant!

You know, now that I think about it, I would probably talk to the girl first. Lots of kids will listen to their friends' moms while they won't listen to their own.You could talk to her about why teenaged sex is so dangerous (remember to tell her about the increased risk of cervical cancer while you're talking about STD's) and talk about teenaged pregnancy, in a very unglamourous way. You might have a bigger impact and mommy might be in denial.

Good luck.

Yea i believe you should tell her mother, and maybe if she isnt lying about like showing off infront of her friends her mother could get her on brithcontrol and stop her from getting pregnant at a young age. Good luck

first of all was your daughter confiding in you when you found out? because if she was you could break a trust with her that you wont be able to mend.but if you "just" found out then i think that you should set down and have a talk w/her mother. i would want someone to let me know.because birth control pills are a whole lot cheaper than raising a baby.

YES. If she is not on birth control and is having sex the mother should know . I doubt if she wants to be a grandma just yet!!!!!!!!!!Just tell her everything you know and if she is any kind of mom she will be grateful for this info.
