I've noticed that one trait of successful people is that they are able to surround themselves with people who will do things for them. Whether physically doing something, or offering knowledge in a certain area this seems to be the way to go. After all, one person only has so much energy, so in a competitve society, the one who can "organize" other to do things in their favour should come out on top. Any suggestions for books, websites, or just advice in general for making this happen?

I think that the most effective way that you can get yourself into that position is to be correctly recognized as an expert in the area in which you want to be a team leader.

Just being a good organizer and delegator will not suffice. The team members must recognize and acknowledge you as an expert in the field. You can then garner the support you need to convince others to heed your call.

Be a leader:
1. look and act confident (even if you aren't)
2. Always know what the right thing to do is, but accept responsibility for your mistakes.
3. Support your team members
4. Develop a charismatic personality

Organize:
1. Always know what needs to be done, and how to do it.
2. Know your team members' strengths and weaknesses, and then delegate accordingly.
3. Pre-planning and strategy are your friends

There are some great books out there put out by military leaders from the present, to back when Napoleon was emperor of France. Don't just read one book, get a diverse set for a diverse education.

-Best wishes on being a leader
