I want to plan a trip for me, my mom and my sister to disney world for a week (As soon as I save up enough money!)

Buy, we have a really low income, even with my mom's job (I'm 16, my sister's 12 and my mom...well, she's past 40 but we love her anyways)

If we stayed in a Disney Value Resort, would we have as much fun? What about food? Do the food courts offer anything healthy like spagetti or steak or baked chicken or something? I don't want to just eat junk for six days. I want us to be able to go to the park with out a stomachache from too much ice cream and pizza.

Oh yea, what's your favorite Value resort?

I think that staying at a value resort is going to be the perfect choice for your family. The value resorts are very nice. Sure, staying at one of the deluxe resorts offers a little more as far as what is available onsite, but not everyone needs that. You need to consider how much time you plan to spend at your resort. Most people go to Disney for the parks and spend a good amount of time in the parks. The resort is basically used for getting ready to go each day, sleeping, swimming and sometimes a meal here and there. If that is what you plan to use the resort for, then the values are fine. The rooms are a little small and they can be a little more noisy than the moderates and deluxe (Since they are more popular for groups and younger kids) but otherwise they work really well.

The moderates and deluxe resorts do offer a little more as far as what you can find for food. However, you are going to spend more at these restaurants, since many of these choices are sit-down meals. Also, you can still eat at the moderate and deluxe resorts, even if you are staying at the value, so your food options are far from limited. The value resort food courts are seperated, similar to what you would see in a mall, with several choices for food. You can find pastas and things like that, on average it is about $10 per person to eat in the value resort food courts.

The value resorts are all kind of similar. But my preference would be Pop Century. It is the newest resort and it is seperate from the All Stars, because of this the transportation seems to run a little better. I also find that the resort is a little more quiet than the All Stars. My second choice would be the movies.

I don't think that you would be dissapointed at a value resort. You get the extra benefits of being an onsite guest, you get the clean room that Disney is famous for, as well as their fabulous service and so much more, but you aren't paying the higher price of staying at a resort that offers more ammenities and things on the property. And remember, if there is something such as a spa or restaurant that you are wanting to use at another resort, you can always do that as well, the only thing you aren't supposed to use if you aren't a guest is the pool.

Good luck with your planning!

My husband and I just got back from a trip to WDW and we stayed at the All Star Movies Resort. Our first time staying on the resort. We usually rent a car and stay at a cheap hotel off property. Boy we will never do that again. Staying on the resort is the best thing you can do. We had a great time. Why spend all that money for a hotel when your not going to be in it that much anyway. Yes the All Star Resorts are farther away then the more expensive resorts but it didnt matter. We used the bus transportation to and from the parks and the longest we waited was 20 mins. at most. If you start off early it won't matter. Your best bet for you would be to definantly stay at an All Star Resort. Besides they are totally Disney and the expensive resorts aren't so much. You will have a great time wherever you stay.

You would definitely have as much fun at the value resorts as the deluxe. I've done both, and I like the All-Stars. I've never been to Pop Century, but have stayed at all 3 All-Stars. The food courts have a pretty good variety; not just chicken strips and french fries! There is one place at All-Star Movies where you can create your own pasta, so you can add veggies and chicken, and they'll cook it to order. You might want to look into the meal plan - Disney's website has info. Our favorite is All-Star Movies; at Sports, we had too many cheerleaders practicing for competition right outside our room day and night - every time we've been there :) Have a wonderful vacation - it'll be here before you know it!

Yes the value Resports are just as fun as the Deluxe resorts. You have to remember that you are farther from the park and it may take longer to get places. Otherwise once your in the parks everything is exactly the same. I stayed at Pop Century in December. I liked the giant Rubix cubes, 8 tracks, cell phone and other memorabilia. They had all different food options at their cafeteria. I would maybe recommend doing the meal plan that you can get with the Disney vacation packages. The group I went with did the one that gave you a counter service meal, a sit down meal and a snack every day.

The Value Resorts are excellent for guests on a tight budget. Delux hotels are very nice of course, but they also cost a small fortune! You can still enjoy a Disney vacation at any of the Disney value hotels. Personally, I like Music best. My husband lifegaurded at all of the All Star Pools and we both enjoy Music the best. They have the best pool (Calypso!) and recently had their rooms renovated last summer.
The food is so so. They do have good salads and breakfast items. But you don't have to eat at the hotel! Hop on the Disney transportation bus to enjoy a good meal at any of the other Disney hotels or inside the parks.
Enjoy your vacation!

If your main use for your accommodations is as a place to sleep it won't matter.

You may also want to look at rental houses nearby. There are lots of them, many with private pools & hot tubs & game rooms & big screen TVs, etc. They can be very affordable, particularly if you share the cost of a large one with other family or friends, even when compared to area motels.
