I know that I will not be responsible for child support anymore after the adoption, but I was told that in Connecticut I would still be responsible for medical coverage of them if their mother chose to push it. Is that true? (It won't make a difference to me either way, I'd pay it---but, I want to make sure that's accurate info.)

I don't need preaching people. You don't know me or my situation. This is the best thing for my kids and I will be able to visit when I choose to. I guess I should ask a lawyer instead.

You are a bigger man than most....you are not ashamed to admit that you cannot take great care of your kids. That does not mean that you do not love them. GOD BLESS YOU and I also hope that what ever is wrong in your life gets better. Please make sure that when you do sign your rights that you see in writing that you can still visit your children. That is so important.

Hi, In Virginia whoever adopts that child is responsible for the care of that child just as if he were the natural father..that includes child support - which includes medical coverage. If he includes his wife on his work insurance, under a family plan it would include his legal children too. But ask a lawyer or two...that's the only way to be sure.... bye

Wow....if you have no problem with being held responsible for your children's medical coverage (if it is indeed the law in Connecticut) after your ex wife adopts your children, why are you allowing another man to adopt the kids?
I would not imagine that this would be the case as by allowing another party the right to adopt your children you release yourself from parental rights, financial obligation of child support, the right to attend their school functions, the right to be at their baseball, basketball games etc...

I don't know about the laws in Connecticut but I know in the other 49 states when a man adopts another man's children the adopted father takes on ALL financial responsibilities for the children. My advice is to check with your lawyer.

no it won't
but as a question...
Why would you let someone else adopt your kids when you are still very much alive and well enough to have a hand in raising them as well?
Once they are adopted.. all your rights will disappear and you will no longer have any part of their lives....
you will not be considered their father... you will be nothing to them.... you walk away with nothing... I wonder how they will feel a few years down the road... when they figure this all out for themselves
NO matter what you have been told.... you give up ALL your rights when you allow them to be adopted
curious to find out why you would do it... not preaching ..just curious

I refuse to answer on the grounds that i refuse to believe that a man would adopt his own flesh and blood out because of money its just not human .But being that the kids are not subjected to that person maybe the children will follow in the mothers foot steps

I'm with Blondie here....why would you just give up on your kids? Are you just trying to avoid the financial obligation? If so, that's really sad.
