Still help him move...just carry the light stuff. Usually the men get the real heavy stuff anyways. You shouldn't be far enough along to really matter. If you are at high risk then I would really do light work.

I was out chopping tree roots with an ax, moving boulders in the yard, we moved from one house to a new one, was out in the heat jogging, canoeing, hiking, and doing remodeling and yard work before I knew I was pregnant.

You can do anything you did before you were pregnant. Theres no real weight limits until you clear that 12 week mark, when the uterus starts to stretch the abdominal muscles and heavy lifting can put stress on the uterus. After that point the average woman limits lifting to about 25-30 pounds. Although many second time moms are toting around 40 pound toddlers while pregnant.

But the rule of thumb for early pregnancy is to stay hydrated, rest when needed, and continue on as usual.

If you are pregnant, you do want to be careful of what you are doing. You especially want to be careful when lifting objects and repetitively carrying things up and down two stories of stairs. If you want to help, keep the strenuous activities to a minimum. Take a HPT and see if it comes out positive. If this test is positive just let your brother know you can help but only if what you are doing is limited and for a short period of time. I am sure he will understand if you explain to him the possibility. Also, if the HPT does give you a positive, make an appointment with the doc for confirmation.
