pack light! no kidding ! Especially if you are going to visit the islands .It is such a drag to carry lots of luggage around with you on and off boats up hills, and stairs are a plenty. and by all means make sure your suite case has good wheels.
aside from that, good walking shoes are a must for both Athens and the islands. shorts and Capri's are good for day time, but bring something warmer and dressier for night time.
really make sure you leave empty space in your bag,Trust me it will be full by the time you leave....

Yes, shorts, capris and T-shirts you should definitely bring, but don't forget a jacket or a sweater. It can still be chilly in the evenings. In any case, I doubt that you will swim, but it is very possible that you can lay in the sun with your bathing suit. As for shoes, I suggest walking shoes - especially when you will be running around in Athens. If you visit Acropolis you'd rather wear sport shoes (it is rather slippery on the rocks) and on the islands avoid high heels shoes, the streets are often paved.
In any case, don't worry too much. If you miss something, you can always buy it.

A bathing suit will probably not be used, because the water is still very cold, but pack one just in case. Shorts most likely no, but capris and a few T-shirts and light shirts and tops may be used. But beware: the weather will not definitely be good all the time, and even if there is sunshine, it could be cool, especially in the evening. So you definitely need a jacket, probably a light jacket that you can wear in the morning too, and a few long sleeved and thicker clothes. And pants.

I would recommend capris (most people never wear shorts), long light pants, light sweaters, blouses, and comfortable shoes. It can get quite warm during the day but cooler at night so make sure you have clothing for that. If you are doing a lot of touring, remember to wear sunblock and bring running/walking shoes.

Having gone many times I don't think you'll do much swimming much in April....its still cool for that. For us in states its warmer maybe but when I go that time of year I go for layers as the day can become warmer but nights yes, as they said it will be cool. One time I was there in April and friends in Athens in April were still wearing jackets and coats. I also usually go with capris but take dressy tops....also a lot of young you'll see in jeans...nice jeans with very nice tops. Nights are white slacks, skirts or dresses for dancing and going out ....Zoe (one I stay with) loves us to dress up more for dining out nights or when I am going out with others...and I go along with what she suggests to me.
I have never carried my tennis shoes. They would be good if your site seeing but I wear heels, wedges, thongs, clarks (brand) and have climbed hills in them oh and don't forget some beach shoes because of the rocks if you do go to swim...I have my Greek dress clothes and then my at home in states clothes ....going to leave some over there this year to stop packing back and forth every year.
Have a GREAT time as I know you will....
