If the level of the water is not raising,and you are in no danger of drowning or dieing,you could just call for help and wait on the roof of the house.If you have a two floors house you can just go upstaires and wait for help.If the level of the water is raising,well then you should search for higher ground,and if you have to put in you a vest,or something that floats.

Well, I would not go outside because there might be a bigger flood there. Since I have a 2 story house, I would go upstairs and try to find a better solution.

I would climb on a tree with my cell phone in pocket to notify the emergency if I can and have a float on my shoulder to use if possible. If possible, bring a neon or very bright colored blanket with you in case helicopters are looking for you so they can easily spot you.

Get out of your house and head for higher ground. Do not try to save material goods, look out for the safety and well-being of your family members and get to safety.

If the house is submerged in water. I would leave with a flotation device..
If the house is submerged in RUSHING water. I would grab my cell phone and head for the roof.
