I'm 25 and stuck in a job which ok but i want to do something different. I didn't go to college because i got into debt. I'm a deputy manager in a shop but i don't know where to go from here. Should i go to the job centre and speak to someone? Or can anyone recommend a good website with careers advice? Thanks

The first thing you should do is pay off your debt and go back to school. The isn't another way (unless you win the lottery) The only way out in this world is by education. Yes it is possible for somehow to live well without it but those people usually have family background to help them. However, for your situation its better to go back to school and get a degree that pays well and that you are willing to enjoy. Most people say it isnt about the money but in reality it is. But then again you wouldnt want to be a doctor just for the money cause that isnt realisticly possible. For the most part get a degree that you would be able to live with for the rest of your life and not regret....

Hope that helps

Not going to college because you were in debt is a poor excuse, I'm not here to sound mean or badger you, but there's a thing called grants and student loans, no matter how bad your credit is, there are lenders out there that will be willing to lend you money, plus if you make less than a certain amount the government will pay for your schooling. All you have to do is go to your local community college, take the placement test, apply for financial aide, and VOILA! You're now a college student.

Many companies offer a reimbursement for education either skilled or college. If you like computers find a company that offers training while on the job. (Nursing, IT, Finance, Mechanics). It never hurts to ask your current employer if they offer any reimbursement or scholarships for schooling. The worst anyone can ever say is No. However, you may not get the best pay during that time....but the education/training you are receiving will be yours forever.
Take advantage of any training a company offers. I have received much of my software certifications through jobs I have had. It's amazing what big companies pay for these days. So don't be afraid to use their resources...after all if you do a good job for them then everyone is happy.
Good luck and you are worth it....invest in yourself.

Buy yourself a copy of the book "Pathfinder." It is a great resource for people who do not know what career to go for. Also, "What color is my Parachute." Both of these books also have websites. Whatever you can dream is what you can do. The hard part is figuring out WHAT your dream is...once you do that it is all logistics. You are 25...that is still so young...you can do anything you want. Good luck! Start now, time will pass whether you are working towards a goal or not! My favorite quote is "What would you attempt if you KNEW you could not fail?

Go into some recruitment agencies in your area and ask them what temporary positions are available for someone like you. Try out a lot of jobs untill you find one you really like, then either stick with it, or go study something relevent to that job at uni or college.

the first thing you have to do is ask yourself what it is you arn't getting from your job. are you lacking job satisfaction? are you wanting a bigger salary, etc etc... and then decide what interests you, and then look for a job that would provide you with these things you are lacking. One thing you need to remember though, is that whatever job you do for a living at some point it will become repettitive the grass will always look greener but you have 40 years(ish) working ahead of you remember, so bare that in mind.

take a break.....get some cash together, quit your job and go travelling.....its maybe a good idea to get out of usual environment and routine in order to open up the creative part of your mind which will give you all the true possibilities for what you want to do with the rest of your life

I agree with all the answerers here, if its importatnt to you to get an education, contact your local LEA, and find out how you can get funding. But you have to decide why you want to do it. Do you want to improve your self-esteem and /or earn more money? Whatever the case, getting an education will probably help you with both.Good luck
