If the father of my baby, who I know is the father, wants a DNA test to prove he is the father, can I refuse to have one done?

Yes; but if he's determined he can have an attorney to get a court order. So, to save yourself some hastle later on, why not just go ahead and get it. It's better for you and the baby to know for certain and you'll have peace of mind in the long term. Good luck with everything.

Susie D is correct but there is a better way to put it.

DNA tests are expensive. If you are not seeking child support there is no real reason to use one to prove paternity.

Now if you want him to be a father to the child the test may be the only want to convince him, because he ia obviously denying the child.

You can refuse to do anything you´d like. However, I do wish to state that in a court of law you will be served notice to participate in DNA activities. In other words; comply with the testing !

Sure you can.

But you are also refusing the proof you would need to obligate him to child support if he doubts he is the father.

So many women are "sure" of who their baby daddy is - only for the poor man to find out after ten years and thousands of dollars in child support that the woman lied.
