Our friends and family will think we will be showing-off and start to dislike us. What should I do? I think that he deserves a GREAT party for what he has endured at the same time, I don't want some people to feel like we are Showy....I know some of them will be supportive and others just won't. can you please give me advice? Thanks, Rachel

I can hear it now. You spent so much money on this...how can you afford this party?
The truth is I can afford it and my intentions are solely about my Brother and celebrating his life, and for friends to have a wonderful time....So...should I do it?

I'm not sure why some people would think you were just being showy, but go ahead and have the party. Let it be just a good time for families while it's a ton of fun. Send the invitations and if the people who would disapprove don't come to the party, consider yourself lucky. Best wishes to you and yours.

Yes, you should! Tell him I (a stranger in cyber-space, lol) said Happy Birthday and God bless!

While I understand wanting other's approval, you may never get some people to approve no matter what you do. Therefore, as long as you're breaking no laws, do what you feel is appropriate.

Happy Birthday to your brother and may the future be better for him and you.
