Hello, I am looking into getting a pair of spiderman webshooters, like the ones Spider-man wears in the comics, that work. If i can provide some pretty basic blueprints and funding, can anybody out there build me a pair that I could keep? don't worry, I don't need web in them. They would need to be metal, and house some cartrages that you would also have 2 build. But I will pay. Thanks.

No! nobody can build webshooters like that! That is the whole reason they had to switch spider man and why they did it differently in the movie.

See, originally, Peter parker was a bright high school student who was really into science, and the writer (Stan Lee) didn’t know any better. He thought it would be cool to have him make his own powers.

Well, duh! Peter was constantly whining about how he never had enough money, and Jonah Jameson never paid enough for his great photos, and how was he going to afford dear old Aunt May’s heart medicine, etc. etc. But, if he really was able to invent a chemical web fluid like that—a superstrong adhesive that would stretch without breaking and yet biodegradable so it would dry up and dissolve after a few days, it would be worth millions! And, if he was really able to invent a webshooter gadget that fit on his wrist, something that would take a highly pressurized viscous fluid and spin it instantly into fibers, the textile manufacturing industry would pay millions for something like that!

And, Peter was smart enough to realize that, even if Stan wasn’t smart enough to write him that way. That’s the problem when you’re trying to write about a character smarter than your are.

It was a pretty big mistake on Stan Lee’s part, so you can understand why they had to change the character. The wonder is that they took so long to get around to it.

Sorry. I always wanted Batman’s utility belt and Iron Man’s Armor and Green Lantern’s ring.
