We all feel depressed at one time or another. It's a big, scarry world out there, and sometimes it feels daunting.
Don't give up! Everybody is in the same boat (planet earth)!
Peter Pan is right when he tells the kids to "Think of a wonderful thought, any happy little thought!"
You and You alone can change your mindset.. by this I mean that you can talk yourself into a better mood. Really! Write a journal of all the happy, fun things you did in the past.
Smile at people you don't know, or better yet, smile and wave to them.
Get out and do stuff. It doesn't have to be something fantastic, just GO! Sitting around being glum doesn't help you to change your mindset. Go mingle with people, go to the mall, talk to a person you never talked to before. Pet a dog or a cat. Be silly and dance in your living room. GO, GO, GO! Look through a photo album to help you remember the good times. Keep a journal of what you did to make you or someone else smile and look at it.
If you are determined enough, you can make a difference in your own life! Make Your Own Fun!

Ask yourself why you're feeling depressed. If you can come up with some legitimate reasons, try to solve the problems they carry. If you can't think of any reason for your depression, you may be clinically depressed. This should not be embarassing. Go see a psychologist/psychiatrist, and they will help you. Don't let this decision be persuaded by stereotypes of "shrinks." Shrinks are qualified to help people with similar problems as this. If you do not suffer from clinical depression, a good Dr. will tell you, and help you to find the root of the problem. Good luck.

I agree, talk to someone. Find someone you really trust with your issues and talk to them. People also get more depressed during the winter months. Its good to find a good warm place to walk, in the sunlight. Where I live they have people visit a botanica garden sometimes during the winter to help with depression. Its pretty much spring, so If you can, take a walk during the day.
Last, is that sometimes it can be from a chemical inbalance, and is best treated by a doctor. If you have been depressed for a long period of time, I would talk it over with your doctor and try different steps.

the depression might be due to many differences and its difficult to find a behavioral trait that connects this, If you are depressed about your past or future then remember that "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery and today is a gift and thats why its called the present. If you are depressed because life isn't giving you what you wanted, think of all, you have got but others haven't, you crave for a reebok but ppl in some places do not have shoes let alone feet to wear them, Life is all bout solving the challenges and making it a positive journey, and that comes by adopting and nice, sweet attitude, remember your attitude decides altitude, If you are depressed because of other factors, have a open thought, think with an open mind "Are you the only one with problems", If you are having some family problems then think of the great men and women who did have problems, get motivated and have an essence to live life to its fullest. Of course there should be someone who is close to you, share their problems and make a cheerful day, walk around go to some old age homes and orphanages or just walk silently thinking of the beautiful things that can happen to you. Finally be optimistic as a non functional watch is right twice a day, find out why u are depressed, write it down and cultivate some hobbies, u will never be depressed and hey don forget you are one top contributor.. I would like to explain you a story what my professor told me
A professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in
it. He held it up for all to see & asked the students,' How much do you
think this glass weighs?' '50gms!’.... '100gms!'... '125gms'. ..the
students answered.
'I really don't know unless I weigh it, ‘said the professor,’ but my
question is: What would happen if I held it up like this for a few
minutes? ''Nothing' the students said.
'Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?' the
professor asked.
'Your arm would begin to ache' said one of the students. 'You're right,
now what would happen if I held it for a day?' 'Your arm could go numb,
you might have severe muscle stress & paralysis & have to go to
hospital for sure!' ventured another student & all the students laughed.
'Very good. But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?'
Asked the professor. 'No'
'Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?' The students were
puzzled.
'What should I do to remedy this'? Asked the professor again.
'Put the glass down!' said one of the students. Exactly!' said the
professor.' Life's problems are something like this. Hold it for a few
minutes in your head & they seem OK. Think of them for a long time & they
begin to ache. Hold it even longer & they begin to paralyze you. You
will not be able to do anything.
It's important to think of the challenges (problems) in your life, but
EVEN MORE IMPORTANT to 'put them down' at the end of every day before
you go to sleep. That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day
fresh & strong & can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your
way!'
So, when u go to bed tonight-Remember to 'PUT THE GLASS DOWN, TODAY!

Continued depression over time can indicate a serious problem, especially if accompanied by self destructive behavior. Examine closely the major stress causing factors in your life, and then think about weather or not they're really that serious. Also consider not worrying about things that you cannot change. Talk it out with a close, trusted friend.

Oft times, we feel depressed because of how we perceive things. For example, if someone is driving and cuts you off, you might take it as a personal affront or you might take it as the person is just in a hurry. If you take it and other occurances personally you might start feeling like people/life/things are against you. This can lead you to feel depressed.
It is also possible that you're clinically depressed. Unless you feel suicidal, I would recommend working on your perceptions. If you're feeling suicidal however, it is crucial that you seek professional help.

Everyone has ups and downs.
When you feel depressed, try to get out and exercise, work on a favorite hobby, call up a friend and get together, get busy somehow. Get some sunshine and fresh air.
If you are unable to shake the blues for an extended period, you should see a Dr and see what suggestions he might have.
Good luck!

I think we all encounter depression, at some point. If it's something you can talk about, by all means talk to someone you trust, but sometimes I've seen people who don't want to talk about their problems so, you just have to figure out the best course of action. In any case, I'd suggest getting together with friends, having a good time, talking...just trying to get out and enjoy the day.
In any case....good luck and carpe diem!

Talk to a therapist, go to your doctor and get some medication, exercise, take a bath, listen to music, stay busy, visit with family and friends, watch a funny movie....do the things that make you feel better...but do something. It's so hard to get up and go do stuff when you are depressed...but it is the best medicine. So move it! :)
