I had computers from Dell, Gateway, HP/Compaq and custom made,

The material and overall feeling of the computer from HP/Compaq found to be better but not he speed.

Gateway tends to be in the middle.

Dell tends to run faster if you configure it right. However,
the case & components are found to be not as good as HP/Compaq. Also, the power supply plug/socket from Dell is proprietary, if you want to upgrade the power supply from Dell, you will always have to go back to Dell instead of using after market parts.

It depends, Dell computers are usually designed in such a way that you can upgrade something only with dell supplied parts.... not with any generic parts.... And personally I dont like Dell, i would rather go for something else...

We own a dell and we had problems like missing drivers and we had to restore it to its original settings losing our all our files after one or two months.

i never got one dell, i have a hp and it does give problems.
before i got a Computer i asked my friend what was the better and she allways says Dell.

I've never owned a Dell, but my mother has one and she has had no problems.

i have an emachine which is made by dell i have had nothing but problems out of it.
